Firefox 3.6 RC2 Now Available!

Firefox 3.6 RC2 Now Available!

For those of you up late late Sunday night (in North America) you may have received a special treat! Firefox version 3.6 RC2 was released on the 17th of January, bringing the new iteration of the popular web browser one step closer to completion. The Mozilla Foundation claims their latest release is

“considered to be stable and safe to use for daily web browsing, and represents the features and content that will be in the final product release.”

For those of you downloading it for the first time now, if you have problems running your add-ons, Mozilla has also provided a bug reporting tool which you can download from here.

A few of the major changes found in this version include:

  • More than 70 fixes from the last beta to improve performance, stability, security and features.
  • The ability to run scripts asynchronously to speed up page load times.
  • Firefox 3.6 will alert users about out of date plugins to keep them safe.Improved JavaScript performance, overall browser responsiveness and startup time.
  • Support for new CSS, DOM and HTML5 web technologies.

These updates as well as many fixes for bugs found in previous versions are available now for download. Remember to support your open source software, if you find a bug report by filing it in Bugzilla!
