Yesterday, Massive Inc. held an upfront which Activision attended to display their upcoming titles for advertisers. Massive happens to be a Microsoft-owned firm responsible for the Barack Obama ad in Burnout Paradise. Activision showcased and teased some of their upcoming titles with in-game ad’s placed within them.
One game they showed was Guitar Hero 5, titled and presented in a general way. They simply displayed a screenshot of gameplay with a Burger King ad placed to the right of the fret highway. They also took this chance to speak about the next Tony Hawk title. “You’re not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands,” said the company. The new “Tony Hawk” arrives on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS in October. Also, they vaguely announced the next game in the Call of Duty franchise, titled “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″, set to be release Fall 2009. It’s not clear whether Treyarch will continue developing this game or if Infinity Ward will come back, but Infinity Ward was once noted stating that they are working on their next title set to be released late 2009. Bizarre Creations, developers of the Project Gotham Racing series, are creating a racing-oriented title set in the universe of James Bond, yet not related to any of the recent films. They stated they are working on an original IP for Activision set to be “‘Mario Kart’ meets ‘Forza’”.
Yet as of recently, these titles are deemed as “speculative” by Activision. Right, because we live in a world where Activision HATES gaining money and making sequels.
