What’s with the Nintendo DS games?

Sorry, but I’m really confused here. We all know the new NDS will be amazing in every way (yes, it will) and with the holiday season coming up, you’d think Nintendo would be sneaking some gems under the radar, but from the new list of games that went out yesterday, one would think it was still March.

That’s the full list of games released October 28th, 2008. Yeah. Really. No “Super Camera Internet Browser”, or “Im Pro 2009″. We get Dora and Diego. AGAIN!

I hate to say this, and really don’t want to believe it, but the Nintendo DS is a kids’ toy. I mean, how long has it been since there was a good, addictive game besides Brain Age? Everything seen in the stores today is an extended version of the above list. five Dora games, some Diego one, a bunch of Barbie junk, and Guitar Hero Portable Something or Other. Then again, that somehow reflects Nintendo’s new outlook on consumer marketing. Make games that appeal to the whole family and bypass the hardcore gamers. I suppose if I was a parent and saw these games, I wouldn’t think twice about buying the DS for a young child, but at the same time, memories of the Gameboy Advance haunt my dreams at night. back when you could find a game about anything for $29USD and play it for a month before it ever got old. Those times are gone. Nowadays, if you spend less than $200 a month on games, the market shuns you and wonders why you arent trying hard enough.

That last comment strayed away from the original subject a bit, but I’ll end with this: Nintendo, if you spend as much time as you have on making a new, cheap, and seemingly incredible game system, you should really start pumping out games that utilize the features of said system. As far as i can see, there are no other games up to January of 2009, so if that’s anything to go off of, we are going to get a new handheld device with nothing to do on it. Please make me eat my words and release “Super Camera Internet Browser”.
